Blog Accountability

Retweet This Page

So I’ve been looking through the blogosphere to find interesting blog articles that I can learn from.  I came upon Beginner Blogger who talks about being accountable for your blogging.   He posed interesting questions that I thought would make a great post here on Your Pet Store Blog.

  • So how do you keep yourself under pressure in the blogging world to make sure you get things done?

In the back of my mind I know my blog won’t be noticed if I don’t keep it updated.  Google won’t care about it and people won’t subscribe.  I’m using the blog to help my business and with that I would LOVE to become a stay-at-home mom.  That very desire is what motivates so much of what I do in life.

  • Are you currently working ‘for the man’?

I am currently working ‘for the man’ and would love to be working for myself and more importantly my 2 children.  I want to create a warm loving home where my kids can know I’ll be home when they come home from school.  I want them to remember that about me… not that dad picked up mom from work everyday.

  • How much time do you get to spend on your blog?

Writing a blog, I’ll probably spend 3 hours a week on my blog.  If you mean writing and marketing the blog, I would say 6 hours.  That extra time is spent looking at other people’s blogs, commenting, and hoping they do the same for me.

I enjoy blogging and plan to stay accountable.  What about you?

Angela – I’m really thrilled you’ve devoted a whole blog post based on my questions – thank you!

You’ve made a great point in your last paragraph – you say you spend 3 hours blogging then mention you spend 3 hours PROMOTING your blog. If you’re not out there commenting on other peoples blogs and engaging with your possible audience then no-one will visit your blog.

Also I must point out that I think I am in an easier situation than some. I don’t have a family to raise or a mortgage to pay off. I finished uni then worked for almost 2 years straight, saved as much money as I could then came to a point where I wanted to work for myself and try and make a living online.

I’m back living with my parents (still paying board though :P) so I can try and live my dream and give it a crack for a year. If it doesn’t work out I will go back to the days of 9-5 (or something similar). But I truly hope this works for me and I won’t have to go back to working for someone. I believe a career online is most certainly possible and ANYONE can do it!

BTW I really like your signature at the bottom – it looks great and really personalises your posts. 🙂

Hi Sarge, living with your parents… still you’re doing it responsibly by paying board and having saved a good deal of money in preparation for the switch to self employment. I admire your assertiveness and your focus on making your blog a success. It really shows! I’ll see you around the blogging community I’m sure. 🙂
